Haziq Adil graduated from the University of Malaya in 2022 with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 21st July 2023. He completed his pupillage at Messrs Nik Saghir & Ismail under the tutelage of the firm’s Senior Partner, En. Nasir Zihni Yusoff. Upon completing his pupillage, he was retained by the firm as a Legal Associate in the Civil Litigation Department, where he continues to serve and handle a diverse range of legal matters.
Professional Experience:
- Represented Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) at the Court of Appeal in a case involving a scholarship agreement. Successfully obtained leave to appeal concerning the recovery of damages for failure to complete doctoral education.
- Acted as lead counsel in a full trial before the Co-operative Tribunal involving the dismissal and suspension of board members.
- Regularly represents Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) in meter tampering cases and other litigation matters.
- Handled civil litigation matters from start to finish, including debt recovery, bankruptcy, and winding-up proceedings for clients such as PNS and TNB.
- Drafted and prepared various court documents including Letters of Demand, Writs of Summons, Statements of Claim, affidavits, submissions, and witness statements. Attends hearings, trials, and chamber proceedings.
- Assisted in corporate banking documentation during his pupillage, including the preparation of Final Advice Letters for banks and ensuring compliance with loan disbursement conditions and security documentation.
He is fluent in both English and Malay, in both written and spoken communication.
