Mohamed Haji Abdul Hamid

Mohamed Haji Abdul Hamid joined the firm as a partner in 1991 after his retirement in the public service as Assistant General Manager of the Kelang Port Authority. He has vast experience in maritime laws and practices, having held several important posts, locally and internationally, in various maritime related organisations.  He was a Legal Writer to the Institute of Maritime Law, Faculty of Law, University of Southampton, United Kingdom.  He was also a legal consultant of the United Nations, ESCAP, Bangkok on maritime legal matters.

 

Prior to obtaining the Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Singapore (1968) and Certificate in Postgraduate Law from the University of Malaya (1969), Mohamed Hj Abdul Hamid served as Assistant District Officer in the Kelantan State Civil Service from 1957 to 1962. Between 1968 to 1969, he served as Executive Secretary to Board of Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM), the national organisation of standardisation and quality established by the Malaysian Government.

 

In recognition of his excellent public service, he was conferred the following Federal and State honours and awards:

 

  • Kesatria Mangku Negara (K.M.N)
  • Ahli Mahkota Selangor (A.M.S) 
  • Pingat Pekerti Terpilih (P.P.T), Kelantan
